Learn If You Are Experiencing Panic Attacks While Sleeping And What Are The Available Remedies

Living just 50 years ago was different than it is today. The stress put upon us and our ancestors was not as great as it is today. Many of us lose sleep and develop other ailments. Not only do we feel ragged and exhausted the next day, we tend to age quicker due to our body not recovering and resting the way it should. As this get worse, we begin to see the development of nocturnal anxiety attacks, which will disrupt not only our sleep pattern but our life.

As human beings we need to rest approximately every 16 hours. Our resting period lasts approximately 8 hours and then we're up again. There is no way around this cycle. Sooner or later our bodies must rest. When something causes a disruption in the normal course of life, the sleep awake balance is lost and problems start to arise. If you consistently sleep less than eight hours per night and wake up feeling tired, you may have chronic sleep problems which may lead to or be nocturnal anxiety disorder.

A reliable diagnosis of sleep panic attacks is more more difficult because the disorder is a mix of several different symptoms which indicate various other sleep disorders. The hardest stage of the night attacks is during onset. You will not be able to sleep well and will be feel exhausted the next morning. You are advised to seek a professional to help you through this when such a situation occurs.

The standard symptoms of panic attacks while sleeping are insomnia, sleepiness during the day and improper sleeping patterns. Insomnia is more dominant than the other two symptoms in the initial stages. Also panic attacks during sleep are popular with people having improper sleeping behaviors.

It is reported that of all the anxiety disorder sufferers, as many as 50 percent likely experience night panic attacks. Although the majority of their attacks occur during their waking hours.

One side effect of panic attacks while sleeping disorder is the fear of sleeping the sufferers develop which heightens their anxiety making things that much worse and complicated. Word of caution: do not try to address or resolve these problems with sleeping pills. They won't work and what you may end up with is an addiction that will complicate your situation.

Night panic attacks should not be imputed to dreams as the attacks occur at the earlier stages of what is known as Rapid Eye Movement. Therefore, dreams cannot be held responsible for setting off panic attacks. Also, the occurrence of nocturnal anxiety attacks can result in sudden waking up, palpitations, breathlessness, fear, sweating and shudders. Such symptoms usually occur when the person is in deep sleep.

It is still not known what causes nocturnal anxiety attacks. Some experts suspect that the cause may be the buildup of carbon dioxide within the body while we sleep. This has been referred to as the "false suffocation alarm".

Nocturnal anxiety disorder is treatable and medications can eliminate the night attacks.
Nonetheless, medications should be used as the last weapon for intervention as these disorders can be cured with certain restrictions and changes. To be clear, we're talking about anxiety medications and not sleeping pills.

You can free yourself of the night panic attacks and anxiety attacks in general if at first you can make peace with yourself. This is a very serious step. You must understand yourself first before you try to explain anything to others. The more you express the better for you. Some life style changes that appear to help rid sufferers from night attacks consist of giving up smoking and limiting the consumption of alcohol and caffeine. These substances trigger the intensity of the attack. Additionally I would say that self help is the best help to cure night panic attacks.
